5 Super Easy CBD Christmas Recipes

Christmas is finally here, and for many it really is the most wonderful time of the year. The smell of Christmas trees is filling homes across the country, with twinkly lights and chilly nights, and a lot of us are getting into the holiday spirit.

But Christmas isn’t all about the aesthetics and the religious connections. Unfortunately, many of us find ourselves rushed off our feet by last minute Christmas shopping, up to our noses in wrapping paper and drowning in Christmas cards. As outrageous as it may be to say, perhaps the most stressful thing of all is spending time with our families!

You might find yourself hosting the family Christmas dinner this year, or perhaps you’re just throwing a holiday party for your friends and co-workers. Whatever the specific occasion, cooking seasonal food for a large number of people can be extremely overwhelming. But we have a solution – CBD!

Cannabidiol is becoming a popular option for a number of reasons, as it may have the ability to relax those who use it creating balance and a better you. By sprinkling a little CBD magic into your festive dishes, you can relax both yourself and your guests, minimizing the chance of arguments and maximizing the likelihood of compliments on your cooking.

Today, we will be giving you five CBD-infused festive dishes for you to whip up this year. If you’re looking for a last-minute recipe, don’t worry! These are all super quick and easy to make.

1. CBD-infused Eggnog

Eggnog is a true holiday favorite, and for that reason, we just had to feature it on our list. This recipe is virgin, and is only spiked with CBD – it’s child-friendly! Of course, if you would prefer, you can make a spiked eggnog variety to liven up the party even more!

Serves: 16

You will need:

  • 8 eggs, separated
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon – grated (plus more for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ CBD oil per mug, as desired

Instructions:

  1. Whisk the egg yolks, sugar, and salt until the mixture is smooth and has a light color.
  2. Add in the whole milk, whipping cream, nutmeg, and vanilla. Whisk again until it is completely smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites until you are able to form soft peaks. This should take around four minutes.
  4. Fold the whipped egg whites into the cream mixture until it is smooth.
  5. Chill the eggnog until it is cold, and then serve. With each serving, add in ¾ teaspoon of CBD oil, then garnish with grated nutmeg and cinnamon.

2. CBD Cranberry Sauce

We love this CBD-infused cranberry sauce because you can simply use it as a garnish for your Christmas roast. Not only that, but you can spread it on toast as a jelly, or even mix in some goat’s cheese to make a delicious dip. This is one versatile dish!

You will need:

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup water
  • 12 oz cranberries
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Orange zest
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/3 g CBD isolate (you can use CBD oil if preferred)

Instructions:

  1. Heat a saucepan over medium heat, combining the sugar, orange juice, water, cranberries, salt, cinnamon stick, and orange zest.
  2. Stir occasionally until the cranberries soften.
  3. When half of the cranberries are softened, add in the CBD isolate. Continue stirring until all the cranberries have softened into a sauce.
  4. Remove from the heat and chill. Serve whenever you are ready.

3. Mashed Potatoes with a CBD Twist

Mashed potatoes are another favorite at Christmas time. While some people prefer to have roast potatoes, nothing can really beat a creamy, herby, delicious mashed potato – especially when it’s infused with CBD! In fact, we say that if you like potatoes, why not have both roasted and mashed?! This CBD twist on the traditional mashed potato is sure to impress your friends and family.

Serves: 5

You will need:

  • 4 lb potatoes
  • 2 cups milk (can substitute a non-dairy milk)
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 4 crushed garlic cloves
  • 4 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • Pinch of salt
  • Cracked black pepper
  • CBD oil (however much you want!)

Instructions:

  1. Peel and dice the potatoes, then add to a large pot with a pinch of salt. Add enough water to cover and bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer until just tender; this should take around 20 to 25 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, heat a saucepan over a low heat and melt the butter. When at least half the butter has melted, add the drops of CBD oil and mix it together. Then, add your milk, garlic, rosemary and pepper.
  3. Reduce the heat for 2 minutes before taking the saucepan off the heat completely and allowing the flavors to steep.
  4. When the potatoes have cooked, remove them from the heat and drain them, then return them to the pot.
  5. Add the CBD and butter mixture to the potatoes and mash together using a potato masher or a fork. Serve hot.

4. Peppermint Chocolate CBD Cups

After the main course, it’s time for dessert. While mince pies and Christmas pudding may appeal to some, for others they simply just won’t do. If you have more of a sweet tooth (and hate raisins), these are for you. The chocolate makes for a tasty treat, while the peppermint adds a Christmassy candy cane twist. Plus, they’re incredibly easy to make!

Serves: 6 large servings

You will need:

  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate
  • ¼ cup cacao butter
  • 1 tablespoon raw cashew butter
  • ¼ cup coconut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoon CBD oil
  • ¼ teaspoon matcha powder/spinach powder

Instructions:

  1. Melt the dark chocolate in the top of a double boiler until it becomes smooth.
  2. Spoon a little chocolate into the bottom of 6 peanut butter cup molds, dividing it evenly between the cups. The cups have two layers to them, so the chocolate should only take up about half of each mold. Place this into a freezer until hard – around 10 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, combine the cacao butter, cashew butter, vanilla extract, maple syrup, and sea salt over a double boiler, then whisk until it is smooth. Then, add in the CBD oil and matcha powder and whisk until blended. This creates a mint white chocolate (though it will appear green!)
  4. Pour this mint white chocolate over the dark chocolate in the cups, filling the cups to the top, then place them in the freezer until set; around 20 minutes. Store in the fridge until ready to serve.

5. Snowy CBD Meringues

Another dessert item now, and these are perfect for any Christmas party. This little meringue swirls will have you dreaming of a white Christmas, and they are perfectly bite-sized for the ideal party spread. This recipe ensures that the meringues are still just a little chewy on the inside, and gives them a tasty peppermint flavor.

Serves: 32

You will need:

  • 2 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup plus 1 ½ tablespoon coarsely crushed peppermint candies (such as candy canes)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 250˚.
  2. Beat the egg whites and cream of tartar in a large bowl until large peaks form.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and salt, then turn the whisk onto its highest setting. With the mixer running, pour in 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat for 10-15 seconds. Repeat until all the sugar has been added.
  4. Scrape the inside of the bowl and then repeat for another 15 seconds. At this point, the mixture should form stiff peaks when the whisk is lifted.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and the 1/3 cup of candies with a flexible spatula.
  6. Line 2 baking sheets with baking paper. Drop the meringue in rounded, 1-tablespoon portions on the sheet, slightly apart.
  7. Sprinkle the meringue peaks with the remaining candies.
  8. Bake in the oven until the meringues feel dry and set when touched but are still pale – around 30-35 minutes. About halfway through this time, switch the pan positions.
  9. Allow the meringues to cool before serving.
