The ‘Hot Topic’ Discussion: CBD Oil for Weight Loss

CBD oil is making a name for itself in a big way these days. Whether it’s to help individuals relax or helping inspire an improved quality of life, you’ve undoubtedly come across someone who swears by CBD. And now, there’s talk that CBD oil may even help with weight loss.

When it comes to CBD’s effect on the appetite, little research exists. Some fad diets involve reducing sugar and carbohydrate intake in order to boost metabolism, which ultimately promotes weight loss. You’re probably familiar with the fact that delta-9-THC actually stimulates hunger, but does CBD do the same, or does it work in a totally opposite manner?

Let’s take a closer look at the truth behind CBD oil and weight loss.

What Role Does the Endocannabinoid System Play?

As always, the effects of CBD are linked to the endocannabinoid eystem (ECS). The ECS is what helps cannabinoids, like CBD and THC, interact with the body.

When it comes to any form of weight loss, metabolism is a key player. The ECS is linked to energy storage and nutrient transport, so it does, in a sense, influence our metabolism. The ECS contains metabolic enzymes that interact with various parts of the body, including two endogenous compounds – anandamide and 2-AG (2-arachidonoylglycerol). Both of these ECS receptors influence activity on CB1 and CB2 receptors, which are the same compounds that interact with CBD when it is consumed.

Is There Really A Connection Between CBD And Weight Loss?

As is the case with any diet, no one specific supplement is going to help you lose weight – and that includes CBD. Losing weight takes time, work, and dedication; if you’re not willing to put in the work to exercise, have the dedication to stick to a healthy diet, and have the patience to wait out the time it takes to actually burn calories, odds are you’re not going to lose weight.

That being said, it’s possible that people taking CBD may experience different effects in terms of noticeable changes in their appetite. Still, even in the event that one does notice a suppressed appetite after taking CBD, there is no research to link the two. In other words, there is nothing to support the idea that CBD oil for weight loss actually works. Will you lose weight if you start taking CBD on a daily basis? Maybe. But like we said, that will most likely come down to your altered diet and lifestyle choices more than the singular effects of CBD by itself.

Other Risks and Considerations

CBD oil is in no way a treatment for obesity. It’s also not a one-size-fits-all solution for weight loss, and should not be used as a replacement for healthy diet and regular exercise. A person who is on an active weight loss plan and decides to add CBD to the mix, will not see any positive impact if they don’t follow a healthy diet and maintain a strict exercise routine.

Final Thoughts

It’s important that you don’t see supplementing CBD oil for weight loss as a way to avoid getting active and eating well. Research on CBD is still in its infancy, and there are no studies that look specifically on CBD for weight loss.

That said, quality CBD products make for a great addition to one’s overall health and wellness regime. The Premium Jane CBD oils are some of the best on the market and a great place to start for anyone interested in adding CBD to their health supplement collection.
