CBD Weight Loss: Creating the Ultimate Diet Routine

If CBD is really able to help you with all the things people say it can, then maybe it can help with weight loss. Athletes and fitness gurus alike are opening up to the idea of CBD oil, and are increasingly using it as part of their day-to-day health routines.

Sure, these people may have been healthy and slim before they started CBD, but that doesn’t mean that it couldn’t help you to lose weight. In fact, during a 2017 review of scientific literature regarding CBD, it was found that weight loss was a common side effect of CBD use in humans, and also reduced food intake in rats.

If you happen to know a bit more about CBD, you’ll know that it has very few side effects. This is unlike many of the weight supplements on the market, which can actually end up being detrimental to your health.

If you are interested in learning about how CBD could help you to lose weight, then read on to discover all you need to know.

Dieting (Without Using CBD) to Lose Weight

Before you even start thinking about how to use CBD to lose weight – or before you think about implementing it into your diet – you need to know how to diet in the first place.

Most people think of dieting as restricting everything they eat, surviving only on kale and smoothies until you shed those pounds. These crash diets are common, and with celebrities like the Kardashians advertising “flat tummy teas”, people truly believe that crash diets can help them.

This isn’t the case! Crash diets might help you lose weight temporarily, but they are certainly not sustainable. This is not the way to give your body all the nutrients it needs, and at some point, you’re just going to have to crack and eat that chocolate bar.

A successful diet has to be sustainable. Rather than thinking of it in terms of “I’m going to eat better until I weigh X pounds”, you should be changing your mentality to eat healthier always. Switch your diet up and eat healthy all the time, and you can relax knowing that you’re not going to have clogged arteries and poor health in later years.

By simply switching to a healthier diet in general, you will lose weight and keep it off. It might take a bit longer to lose it, but at least the weight will stay off. Eat fewer fatty foods and less carbohydrates. This does not mean cutting these food groups out completely – just consume everything in moderation!

When it comes down to it, losing weight requires being in a calorie deficit. You should be burning more calories than you’re consuming. But don’t starve yourself! Simply exercise more and eat healthier foods that your body can turn into the required amount of energy. Try upping your protein intake, as protein makes you feel fuller for longer.

Now, onto using CBD. Could incorporating CBD food supplements into your new diet help you lose weight? Let’s take a look…

Can CBD Help You Lose Weight?

Cannabis is often thought of as causing the “munchies.” But this effect may be due to THC, and so CBD won’t have you reaching for the pizza slices!

In 2016, a study was published in the journal Obesity. The study investigated 786 native Alaskan adults in a community that had a high rate of cannabis use – 57.4% of adults in the study used weed. The individuals who used cannabis had a lower body fat percentage than non-users.

This is encouraging, but it only speaks about cannabis as a whole. What about CBD alone? A 2012 study from the journal Psychopharmacology tested the effects of CBD, CBN and CBG on the appetite of rats. Only CBN was shown to increase appetite, whereas CBD and CBG both decreased it.

Furthermore, the interaction of CBD with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) suggests promising results. The ECS is tasked with maintaining balance in the body and keeping us healthy. In this way, the ECS is connected to your metabolism. A Korean study from 2016 found that CBD does in fact have the potential to increase metabolism in overweight individuals, thus leading to weight loss.

From this research, it is apparent that CBD food supplements, could help you lose weight, but how should you go about it?

The Recommended CBD Dosage for Weight Loss

There is no ‘correct’ CBD dose for anyone. With CBD, it is a matter of finding a dose that works for you. You can try out different dosages by using a CBD oil dropper to measure out a different dose. Start low and increase until you find a dose that works for you.

The problem with using CBD for weight loss is that there’s no real way to know when it’s working, as the effects will take longer to become visible. You should take a dose of CBD that just makes you feel ‘better.’ As long as you aren’t experiencing negative feelings, then the dose is appropriate.

Is There a Particular Diet That Fits Well with CBD?

It has been suggested that CBD fits particularly well with the paleo diet and the keto diet – diets that involve eating what mankind would have eaten several thousand years ago.

This includes the consumption of red meat, organic veggies, and no chemically produced goods. (Remember, though, everybody deserves a cheat day!) The idea of the paleo diet is returning to a natural state that humans evolved to occupy. Since hemp was available in the wild, it fits neatly into the scope of the paleo diet, meaning that CBD is a great idea, too!

The keto diet, or ketogenic diet, is a diet that involves high levels of fat, moderate levels of protein, and little to no carbohydrates. It is often employed as a way to stave off epileptic fits. Since CBD has also been used in epilepsy treatments, the two clearly go hand in hand.

Really, CBD can fit well into any diet. No matter what healthy food habits you develop, CBD could help you to lose weight.

3 Ways to Add CBD into Your Diet

There are many ways to add CBD into your new healthy lifestyle. You can just take CBD oil sublingually or take a CBD capsule. However, you can also cook CBD into some delicious (and healthy!) recipes.

Below are three ways to incorporate CBD into healthy foods.

1. CBD Tea

Did you know that green tea has been suggested to increase metabolism? You could burn up to 100 extra calories per day by drinking green tea. Try adding CBD oil into your tea to mask the taste. However, note that CBD oils will not blend with water. If you don’t want to splash out on CBD liposomes, make sure you add in some milk or a fatty substance to ensure the oil mixes in well.

2. CBD Guacamole

The main ingredient of CBD guacamole is avocados. Avocados are packed full of healthy fats that will maintain your body whilst allowing you to lose weight. If chips and dip are normally your thing, then whip up some delicious, CBD-infused guacamole and invite your friends over for a sports game. Yummy!

3. CBD Salad Dressing

Salads don’t have to be just leaves. Try adding in some grilled chicken, fresh avocados, your favourite vegetables, crisp peppers for a crunch, and don’t forget the dressing! Without dressing, salads can become boring. However, many salad dressings add unnecessary calories. You can try out a hempseed oil-based dressing to add a unique, nutty flavour to your salads. Plus, adding CBD into the dressing will bring some new weight loss advantages to your salad. Make sure to spice it up!
