Asking the Question: Is CBD Oil Legal in Alabama?

Venture into just about any town or city center in the USA, and you will see tons of places selling CBD products. Major cities in Alabama are no different.

In this article, we discuss the assortment of products on the Alabama market and whether or not they are legal. We will also cover what goes into making a quality product, so you will have the tools to identify a well-made CBD product from a poorly made one. After all, the quality of your product is only as good as the quality of the hemp it comes from.

You’re Not Alone if You’re Curious About CBD Laws in Alabama

Even today, many people out there still have questions about CBD laws in Alabama. And it’s understandable – it can definitely be a complex subject not only in Alabama but across the USA as a whole.

Much of the confusion stems from the US Farm Bill, approved by former President Donald Trump in 2018. A subsection of the Farm Bill, the Hemp Farming Act, allows the cultivation of hemp. Many people assumed that, as a result, CBD products would become available everywhere.

Unfortunately, it’s not quite so simple. Individual states still retain the right to choose whether they adopt the new hemp policy. Plus, the Farm Bill does not explicitly mention CBD at all. CBD is just one component of hemp extract, after all.

In Alabama, CBD oil is pretty readily available. There are even dedicated CBD stores in Alabama. However, it can be tricky to accurately gauge the veritable quality of the products in retail stores. They rarely come with lab reports, which allow you to view the specific cannabinoid content of the product.

In other words, those shopping for high-quality CBD oil in Alabama are likely better off starting online. For some of the most trusted and pure USA-made products, Premium Jane is the perfect place to start.

CBD in Alabama (and Other Parts of the US): What Are Your Options?

When buying CBD in Alabama, you have an array of options – some good and some not so good. At Premium Jane, we make sure we adhere to the strictest quality regulations. As a result, the CBD in our products comes from industrial hemp grown right here in the United States. The complete Premium Jane CBD product range contains less than 0.3% THC, which you can verify by browsing our third-party lab reports.

Our product options include our award-winning CBD oil. Oil drops are a fantastic place to start for those who want to consume the compound in the traditional way. Simply place a few drops of Premium Jane oil under your tongue, hold for a minute, then swallow. And if you don’t like the taste of natural oils, we sell flavored oils too or CBD capsules. Soft gel capsules are incredibly convenient and easy to use – just swallow one with a sip of water.

If you have a sweet tooth, you will love our CBD gummies. These delicious edibles are vegan/vegetarian, and they offer a robust 25mg per gummy. CBD topicals are another great option, enabling you to apply CBD on the skin to a targeted area.

Hemp Cultivation and Industrial Hemp in Alabama

There has been an Alabama Industrial Hemp Research Program in place since 2014. More recently, however, Alabama has approved the cultivation of hemp under broader commercial agriculture regulations. In fact, there were almost 800 applications submitted to the program this year alone. The Alabama Department of Agriculture (ADAI) is in charge of the licensing process, but interestingly, the ADAI only allows a 5-week window for applications between early October and mid-November.

Farmers can cultivate hemp in Alabama if they have the correct licensing. The ADAI launched proceedings in early 2019, so it has been interesting to see how things have developed. To apply, interested parties must submit a completed application to the ADAI. It is a similar process whether you grow, process, or handle the plant. You must also request a criminal background check from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

There is a non-refundable $200 application fee for those interested in growing hemp in Alabama. Upon approval, you will pay an additional $1,000 for every cultivation or processing site. All program members must submit several reports to the ADAI. If you neglect to do this, you face penalties of up to $500, and you may also lose your license. Also, bear in mind that the sale, cultivation, or possession of plants/products with a THC content over 0.3% is strictly prohibited. Potential punishments for this breach include fines of up to $60,000.

Check out the ADAI website for a complete timeline of hemp-related events in Alabama. For example, the ADAI plans to notify applicants of approval in January of each year. Successful applicants must pay the full $1,000 before the end of the January deadline. If you don’t send the required documents by early March, you could lose your Grower License.

What About Folks Who Want to Purchase CBD Online in Alabama?

There’s no denying there’s been a lot of doors opening recently for those who want to buy CBD oil in Alabama. Even though you can quite easily find CBD oil for sale in Alabama in most towns and cities, there is still an element of the unknown. Many products for sale are also subpar in quality.

The reality is that few products available in physical stores come with a third-party lab report. Without a lab report, how can you know if the product is high quality? How do you even know what’s in the product?

When shopping online, it’s possible to view all this information and more. The top brands often include information about where they source hemp and what extraction processes they use. This is why it’s recommended to avoid shopping at gas stations or other retail locations if you don’t know the brands you’re looking for.

For reference on what an authentic, quality CBD brand really entails, Premium Jane offers third-party lab reports for all our products. We are also incredibly proud to point out that our CBD comes from American-grown hemp. We sell full-spectrum products made using CO2 extraction, which means you get additional cannabinoids and terpenes along with CBD. There’s a reason we consistently rank on lists of the best USA-made CBD oils, and it comes down to one thing: quality.

What Else Can You Tell Me About CBD Oil in Alabama?

As mentioned, there are risks attached to buying CBD in Alabama from places like gas stations and convenience stores. In many cases, it’s almost impossible to view the complete list of ingredients. In this situation, there is a chance that the CBD oil could contain heavy metals, pesticides, and toxins.

At Premium Jane, we use CO2 extraction to take CBD from hemp. This is an ultra-clean method that leaves behind no residue. It is also a complicated and expensive process, and not every company makes this critical investment.

Whatever you do, ensure to do plenty of research and invest in a brand and product that’s worth your money. Know what to look for, don’t trust labels alone, and use your best judgment. You’ll only harness the benefits of CBD when using a high-quality product like the range from Premium Jane.

You can browse our full range of CBD products at a glance and also check out our verified third-party lab reports. The CBD industry is growing rapidly, but in many ways, it still remains in its infancy. There are plenty of great brands out there, but there are lots of imposters. Stick with tried and trusted CBD sellers such as Premium Jane, and you’re on the right track. There’s a reason why we have developed the reputation that we have, and it comes down to a simple dedication to quality.
